Sod Troubleshooting

Problem

Under-watering: Sod is shrinking, curling, turning colors other than green.

Solution

Water more frequently and time per watering cycle.

Problem

Over-watering: Sod is mushy, soggy, shows colors other than green.

Solution

Water fewer cycles and for less duration each cycle.

Problem

You accidentally used fertilizer on your new sod and your lawn is starting to turn brown.

Solution

We recommend waiting 4 to 6 weeks before you start to use fertilizer on your newly installed lawn. There is a chance that you triggered a response from the grass known as dormancy. It’s not dead but you likely triggered a natural survival mechanism in which the grass is responding to stress or unfavorable conditions. Your sleeping beauty will emerge when conditions improve. While it may turn brown or appear dead, your grass is very much alive. Provide with consistent watering, avoid mowing, and keep the foot traffic to a minimum.

Problem

You have tried the steps above and it has been more than a few weeks.
